141. (These are) the ones who wait and watch about you: if ye do gain a victory from Allah, they say: “Were we not with you?”- but if the unbelievers gain a success, they say (to them): “Did we not gain an advantage over you, and did we not guard you from the believers?” but Allah will judge betwixt you on the Day of Judgment. And never will Allah grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs) over the believers.

The above ayah was taken from surah An-Nisa.

The disbelievers will do all they can to hurt or win over the believers. Why? Because they are filled with the hate implanted in them by shaitaan.

Prevention of a wedding.

Shaitaan’s biggest scheme.

The disbelievers are just his pawns in the game to success.

Think about who gets hurt in the process.

I apologise for this post not making much sense right now but it is a clear rfeflection of my current test. Alhamdulilah this blog is a place where I can just let out my feelings regardless of the rules of propriety repressing me from expressing my true feelings to those that have wronged me.

Alhamdulilah for a mother’s love.

Ya’Allah, please keep my mother and Abi by my side until I am able to stand alone. Until my emotions have steadied. Until my heart is strong

A blinding flash of white light
Lit up the sky over Gaza tonight
People running for cover
Not knowing whether they’re dead or alive

They came with their tanks and their planes
With ravaging fiery flames
And nothing remains
Just a voice rising up in the smoky haze

We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
We will not go down
In Gaza tonight

Women and children alike
Murdered and massacred night after night
While the so-called leaders of countries afar
Debated on who’s wrong or right

But their powerless words were in vain
And the bombs fell down like acid rain
But through the tears and the blood and the pain
You can still hear that voice through the smoky haze

We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
We will not go down
In Gaza tonight

Palestine.

All the introduction that is necessary.

I had an interesting conversation with a sister on the bus this morning. Her point was simply this; giving money won’t help them. you’re simply gaining reward from Allah. But it isn’t helping them. They don’t want our money.

At this point I realised what this sister was getting at; demonstrations, action, protest, march, argue, confront the government etc etc.

I sat and listened to her debateable opinions patiently my smile never fading. . . Then I unleashed.

A mother with a baby starving in the street, the blitz of terror pounding and exploding around her. No food. No water. No house. No family. There is no money for food. Her child is also suffering from a severe illness that will result in death. No money for medicine.

And what, may I ask, is occuring as this mother is suffering beyond our imaginations?

A good 3000 people are shouting in the streets of London being accused of extremism and being ignored by the government.

Gee, thanks.

Yet a single brother sits on live television day in, day out, raising money from across the country for children, women, medicine, food, water, beds, the list is endless.

In one night he raised £150,000.

Protesting is fine. I’m all for that. Awareness needs to be brought to this ignorent country. But, calling those choosing to raise 100s and 1000s of pounds instead of shouting and screaming in the streets?

Now I put my foot down sis.

Back to the dictionary. What is “help”? Does it specify a particular act? or is it generl? Take a look:-

Asalaamu Alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu!

Alhamdulilah we’ve arrived at Ramadhan again!

Surah Al-Baqarah 183

O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious)

We’ve all heard this ayah a lot. But what does it mean? I’m not a scholar but I heard one imaam say in the above ayah is the purpose of fasting; to become pious.

Sure, we remember those without food and become more grateful. . . This is the benefit from fasting; the outcome.

But to become pious? That is more complicated to understand.

Now, as is my usual practice, I’ll give you my own understanding and when I’m giving evidence and opinion of a scholar, I’ll say so.

Now, another thing I like to do is refer to the dictionary. So, what is “pious”?

pi·ous –adjective

2.

characterized by a hypocritical concern with virtue or religious devotion; sanctimonious.

practiced or used in the name of real or pretended religious motives, or for some ostensibly good object; falsely earnest or sincere: a pious deception.

having or showing appropriate respect or regard for parents or others.

Now, one word we see a lot here is “devotion”. We definitely feel an increase in our love forAllah SWT during this month. But we need to keep that love going. Read the Holy Qur’an, sure you get reward for reading it in Arabic but how many of you know word for word what our Lord has told us? Your love will increase significantly when you understand your Lord. Know what He SWT has told us.

I’d also like to draw your attention to the last point in the definition;

Isn’t this what we have been told by our prophet Muhammed SAW? Especially when we are fasting, our patience runs thin and InshAllah we’ll get much more reward for treating people kindly. . .

Remember those small deeds brothers and sisters!

21 07 2008

Say we are on a journey and the tomtom stops working and we become lost, what a relief it is when someone comes up to us and not only offers to help but directs us to the correct path. Going through the journey of life, if we go out and seek knowledge, Allah will direct us to the correct path..

Abu Darda [radiAllahu anhu] narrated that the Messenger of Allah [salaAllahu alayhi wa salam] said:

He who treads a path in search of knowledge Allaah will direct him to tread a path from the paths of Paradise. The Angels lower their wings for the student of knowledge in approval of what he does.

Knowledge of Islam with sincerity to Allah no doubt leads to jannah. If we feel we are lost in life, do the first step which is to seek knowledge of the deen and Allah [aza wajal] will direct us to tread a path to jannah.

Ok. This is probably going to be a topic I discuss a lot… I do apologise .
Anyway, people need to see the MAJOR difference between a forced marriage, and an arranged marriage.

Anyway, people need to see the MAJOR difference between a forced marriage, and an arranged marriage.

Lets turn to our lovely english dictionary:- (taken from dictionary.com)

Forced
–adjective
1.
enforced or compulsory: forced labor.
2.
strained, unnatural, or affected: a forced smile.
3.
subjected to force.
4.
required by circumstances; emergency: a forced landing of an airplane.

Ok, so we get the idea. Now let’s look at the other one:-

Arranged
- verb
1.
to place in proper, desired, or convenient order; adjust properly: to arrange books on a shelf.
2.
to come to an agreement or understanding regarding: The two sides arranged the sale of the property.
3.
to prepare or plan: to arrange the details of a meeting.
4.
Music. to adapt (a composition) for a particular style of performance by voices or instruments. –5.
to make plans or preparations: They arranged for a conference on Wednesday.
6.
to make a settlement; come to an agreement: to arrange with the coal company for regular deliveries.

Well… I’d like to draw your attention to point number 2. “to come to an agreement or understanding”. That involves both sides, right? Correct me if I’m wrong.

So, why do people insist on using the term “arranged marriage” to describe something which isn’t an agreement?

Hmmm…

More on this. Next post will be looking at the Islamic perspective
